Saving Money, Invasion
of the Couch Potatoes
Plasma screen televisions - big screen
televisions - the bigger the better for some people. Watching
television has quickly raced from an entertaining tool to a hobby.
Other than those expensive versions of televisions on the
market, there are other costly reasons as to why it's just not wise
to turn into a professional couch potato.
Some people click it on as soon as
their feet hit the floor in the morning, and it's the first thing
that they click on when they return from work. They are completely
mesmerised by the little black box. If you need to have a word with
them, best take out the picture tube and get inside the television.
Watching television is one of the cheaper hobbies, but it does have
some drawbacks that can end up costing big bucks:
Television guides are cheap. Antennas are cheap. The electricity
to run the television is fairly cheap. However, all those
commercials tend to make the viewer rush to the kitchen to load
up on food and drinks - most of which tend to be unhealthy foods
and drinks. Unnecessary eating puts a big spin on the grocery
bill, as well as adds unwanted pounds to an already lethargic frame.
Keying off of the last tip, a lethargic body is a breeding spot
for heart disease, strokes and other undesirable medical problems.
Staying glued to a television from dusk until dawn can cause eye
strain, constipation, irritability and a fantasy-world mind set.
If you find that you are watching
too much of the tube these days, make an effort to walk in the evenings
or to enjoy your favorite sport. Don't live vicariously -
live for today! You are definitely worth it.
