The Black Magic Rose A Free Online Love Story Kiera’s lips formed a delicious smile as she viewed the black rose poised in the terracotta pot. Although more of a deep red color rather than black, the rose was the result of much hard work and patience. ‘And my, wasn’t it going to look lovely in the rose garden?‘ Kiera commented to herself. Her dearly departed Aunty would have been proud, her thoughts drawing a wistful sigh. And according to Aunty, the Northwitch family was instilled with a hex that a rose - and only a Black Magic Rose could break. If Aunty were correct, Kiera would be marrying the first man who was drawn to the rose, and who would then touch the rose. Kiera chuckled to herself, the so-called hex ridiculous. And being in her mid-thirties, she doubted very seriously if a ‘Mister Right’ was in her future. For some reason, she seemed better at getting men irritated with her rather than in a romantic mood. She must be doing something wrong - but what that ‘something’ was, she did not know. Tea time - her special brew of herbs and extracts, and a much more appealing thought than her lack of romance. Her personal preferences in tea were attracted to the light citrus flavors of orange, lemon and lime. But a special tea was in order today as this was indeed a celebratory moment, Kiera decided, her attention suddenly drawn to the front door. A knock? If so, a tiny knock. And visitors were unlikely. She had no living relatives and she had left her handful of friends in New Hampshire upon inheriting Aunty’s estate - not that they had been close friends. Almost half a year now, and not even a note from any of them. Then again, she supposed that they had their own lives to live, but it would have been nice to have received a response from any of them.
