AIDS, Signs & Symptoms

AIDS awareness has slowly been played down in the news media. However, AIDS is alive and well in today's world. If you tend to be promiscuous or just occasionally participate in free love, take a moment to read and review the dangers of this very preventable killer.

It's so easy to get wrapped up in the magic of romance and toss all caution to the wind. After the magic passes, reality settles in and the mind finally clears.

That sudden impulse now harbors fears of what we've subjected our body to - a fear of what might have been contracted in that short span of insanity. 

The onset of AIDS effects each victim differently. In most cases AIDS begins with flu-like symptoms that resemble mononucleosis. These may persist for two weeks to a few months after the virus enters the body. After this first stage, symptoms may disappear for several years.

If you experience more than one of the following symptoms of AIDS, see your physician as soon as possible for an evaluation.

Even though you may have one or more of these symptoms, does not mean you have AIDS. Only your physician can make a qualified diagnosis.

Some of the symptoms of AIDS are:

- long term fatigue
- swollen lymph nodes
- fever that lasts for more than 10 days
- persistent, unexplained cough or sore throat
- shortness of breath
- persistent colds
- persistent severe diarrhea
- yeast infections
- easy bruising or bleeding that cannot be explained
- night sweats
- unexplained weight loss
- purplish or discolored lesions on the skin or mucous membrane that do not diminish

Medical science is working hard to discover a cure for this terrible disease, a disease that is without respecter of person. Until that time, please think before intimacy.
