Romantic Decorating Ideas for Fall, Winter, Spring & Summer

Romantic Winter Decorating is in the Air

Long cold nights, clear skies, and trees roped in early morning frost – the telltale signs that Old Man Winter has finally arrived.

Retailers have some ‘dandy deals’ displayed in their stores and shops - just in time for the lazy, sometimes dormant season - items that will warm your heart and your home with a little romantic Winter magic. If you’re willing to brave the icy cold, you can catch some fantastic deals. Retailers generally have leftover merchandise from the holidays into the spring, and prices are heavily slashed – and not just on holiday ornaments.

Search for warm woolen blankets for those long cold nights; they’ll keep you and your honey toasty warm. Bath necessities are generally plentiful due to over-ordering for the holidays.

Among the best choices include soaps that have been scented with the scents of the season in lavender, lilac, cranberry, gardenia, and orange. Bubblebath and bathsalts are also very smart buys. Be sure and stock up on candles. If you need to fill up yourpantry, check out candies and flavored coffees and cocoas. They never clash with a warm, cozy fire. Olive oil that has been infused or packed with fresh herbs also make excellent purchases while adding romance to your kitchen.

Silver, gold, and vivid reds make great colors for the winter season. They tend to brighten dreary rooms, adding a glow of warmth and romance.

Some things worth taking a second glance at this winter are:

- candles with scented with lavender, apple spice, gingerbread, juniper or cranberry
- flannel sheets in wintry prints
- table decorations such as tablecloths, napkins; napkin rings and placemats flavored with winter designs – snowmen, snowflakes, geese and beautiful red and gold plaids
- potpourri scents of the season such as bayberry, cranberry and crisp pine
- plump pillows that will add dimension and beauty to your bedroom, a chair or a comfortable sofa
- beautiful fragile lamps to warm your floors and walls
- pomanders and sachets for your closets and dresser drawers
- winter decorations such as delicate glass snowmen and deer
- winter craft books & cookbooks that will motivate you into creating or baking a special winter treat

These are just a few suggestions to begin your decorating quest with.  Find time to enjoy this magical season that comes just once a year!

Romantic Moments - Fall Decorating in is the Air

There’s crispness laced into the air that wasn’t there a short month ago. The sky grows dark much faster, and is lit with the makings of a Halloween moon. Retailers have replaced swimsuits and sunshades with warm and beautiful crafts and merchandise that will bring out the autumn spirit in your home and in you. Bold browns, crisp oranges, vivid reds – you’ll find all these colors decked out in your favorite retail store. Try to catch some autumn magic before it’s erased by the holidays. It’s a wonderful time of celebration. Some things worth taking a second glance at this autumn are:romance, love

Romantic Moods - Decorating With Flowers & Plants in Spring & Summer

Plants & flowers are an inexpensive way to beautify your home while adding character, charm & beauty...

If you're living on a tight budget these days, but need to add a fresh look to your home or apartment, try experimenting with flowers. Flowers are elegant, beautiful, come in all shapes and sizes, and are easy to discard should you grow tired of them. They are also much easier to care for than selves of knick-knacks that attract dust. A home that has been decorated with a few plants, or vases of flowers, is very welcoming. It's proof that one doesn't need to have a bundle of money to make a house a home!

Container Ideas for Flowers & Plants - One great thing that the 1970's established was the acceptance of freedom and idealism. Just about any 'look' you want to achieve is 'in'. Therefore, your containers can be as simple as a coffee can that's been sprayed with paint, or one that's been decorated with shells or origami.

It's very hard to beat 'simple'. Clear glass vases can be purchased at your local supermart for a little of nothing. If you're seeking something really different, browse the second-hand shops. You may come across a real bargain. Or, try experimenting by making your own containers. Who knows; in the process you may end up establishing a new business out of your efforts. Some interesting combinations for your vases include cotton, foils, fabric, ribbons, bows, jingle bells, shells, coins, used stamps, leaves, chains or cords or ropes that can be looped/ringed around your new vase, and feathers. Craft stores have other goodies that can be inserted into your potted plant, or wrapped around your vase such as miniature teddy bears.

Some great containers to cover and use as vases include coffee cans, large glass pickle jars, giant tin cans, plastic soda bottles, watering containers, and plastic milk containers. Marbles or glass chips can be used to anchor your finished product should you opt for the lighter weighted material. Baskets also make a very elegant container for silk or dried flowers.

Fresh Flowers, Roses & Wildflowers for Spring & Summer Home Decor

Just about every good market sells fresh flowers these days at pretty reasonable prices. However, fresh flowers rarely last for longer than a few days and you're stuck with an empty vase again. Some other great sources are nature! Wildflowers, roses, and all types of greenery are available year-round so be on the lookout. Always make sure that it's legal to collect nature's gifts before you begin cultivating.

Silk Flowers - Silk flowers can be very expensive. You may wish to start with a few simple silk flowers and slowly add to your collection.

Plants -If you're wanting to achieve a 'living' look without having to continually buy fresh flowers, consider plants. Visit your local home improvement center for super hanging basket bargains. Plants can be repotted easily into attractive containers of your choice.

Fillers - Liven up your water by adding a bit of food coloring, or don't use water at all. Instead, 'plant' some silk flowers in glass chips.

Summing It Up - Your decorating combinations are endless! Experiment until you discover that perfect expression of yourself.

Sea Scents Echo Romance - Spring & Summer Home Decor

Get in touch with your senses - Sail away on a seafaring voyage to romance...

The sea is a very powerful symbol of love; the tumultuous waves, the crashing saltwater licking the beach, and rocks poking from the briny deep like bulwarks in waiting. It echoes strength and a subtle foreverness. Try to capture the romantic essence, that magic if you will, by bringing the scents of the sea into your bedroom. Candles, incense, potpourri, fragrant room sprays, luscious body lotions - and the list goes on.

Further enhance your evening by sharing a bit of romance poetry by the light of your sea breeze scented candle. Plan a romantic meal that includes treasures from the sea such as steamed shrimp with herb butter, scones, hushpuppies, coleslaw or a baked potato. For desert, Salt Water Taffy is perfect, as is a fruit salad served in a split hewn-out pineapple shell. Your boat to romance! If you're wanting to spice up your romance, invest in a couple of sailor caps and empty coconut shells and let you imagination run wild!
