Fondue Cooking, Your Recipe For Romance
A romantic way to celebrate your love over dinner & to heat up your romance!
Spend a romantic evening alone – just you, your lover and your fondue pot. Turn the lights down low, slide 'your' song into the CD player and light some scented candles to intensify the romantic aura. It's actually a good thing that most couples don't get out the best tablecloth and china for every meal. After a while, the elegance fades and becomes ordinary and mundane.
The same applies to those day-in, day-out dinners where we fly home from work, either grab a bag of fast food on the way, or once we are home we tuck a tray into the microwave, or warm up last weekend's leftovers and call it 'dinner'.
If this description sounds a bit like your dinner-life, drag out your fondue pot, blow off the dust and create some magic!
Some great dips to use in your fondue pot as a main course (or to accompany your main course) are:
cheese - Velveta is excellent because it melts so easily.
cheese PLUS 1 jar of salsa EQUALS Queso Fondue Dip
1 block of Velveta cheese PLUS 1 can of any variety of tomatoes EQUALS another Queso variation.
salsa – Warm your favorite salsa and serve with a basket of tortilla chips that have been warmed in the microwave. Dress for the occasion in sombreros and do a cha-cha or two.
chili – Toss a couple of cans of your favorite chili into the fondue pot. Serve with corn chips, crackers, grated cheese and catsup – or any of your favorite chili fixings. Try to skip the chopped onions as your intentions are to 'set a romantic' mood.
ZIPPY DIPS - Fondue Cooking, Your Recipe For Romance
A romantic way to celebrate your love over dinner & heat up your romance! Some great foods to use as 'dippers' for the above dip suggestions are:
- assorted cubed, toasted breads such as plain, wheat, rosemary, pumpernickel, rye, sourdough, French, Italian. Visit your local corner bakery. You'll be hypnotized by all the wonderful choices!
Warm flour tortilla shells or chips make excellent dippers.
Try using small vegetables such as mushrooms, broccoli & cauliflower florets.
Cubed squash and potato wedges can be cooked in advance and make delectable dippers! If you decide to use potato wedges, they are wonderful with a fondue pot of cheese that's had a handful of bacon bits and a 'smidgen of chives added. A bowl of sour cream used as a 'final' dip is so delicious that it just might blow your socks off.
- Some great dips to use in your fondue pot for dessert are:
dark chocolate, white chocolate, strawberry sauce, caramel, butterscotch sauce, fudge sauce
- Some great foods to use as dippers for dessert are:
cubed angel food cake, marshmallows, fresh fruits such as whole strawberries, pineapple, banana and apple, dried fruits such as apricots, dates and peaches, all nuts
- Be sure and bring out your most elegant glasses; wine glasses are always beautiful – no matter what you serve in them. Some great 'beverage' choices are:
champagne or wine, sparkling cider or grape juice (white, purple OR red!), soda, warm herbal tea, hot chocolate with marshmallows, of course, hot buttered rum, Sangria, Margaritas, Cappuccino, Espresso...- Why not set up your romantic fondue party in the den or bedroom? Try spreading a pretty throw on the floor and station your pot in the center. Or, leave the throw for you and your lover to lounge on and set up a small area to one side for your fondue pot and the dippers. Most importantly, enjoy one another, laugh a lot and welcome romance into your evening…..
