TAMING LITTLE TIMMY

Lately, do you find yourself grinding your teeth to powder? If so, you may be the parent of a wild and ambitious five-year old. At this age gender is irrelevant. Your young charge has reached the stage of 'Curiosity', and as we all know, that's what killed the parent…I mean, the cat.

Well, stop grinding those pearly nubs and take a long look at little Timmy. All children were not created equal; some were born with more Einstein genes than others, like our little Timmy here. Einstein genes dare to be nurtured and children like little Timmy tend to reach boredom eons before their peers.

So what's a parent to do? For starters, don't place little Timmy in a Hannibal Luther body-cage and toss away the key just yet. Hope is on the horizon. Our Einstein child may merely have need of a bit of special attention.

Medical science will tell you to cut the sugar and help little Timmy down from the ceiling. Then there's always a miracle pill that will cure everything from hemorrhoids to a cracked gizzard. And there are so many things out there that can contribute to hyperactivity. For example, life itself! Yes, even for little Timmy.

So, next time little Timmy has you grinding those choppers to fine sand why not try the following? One could actually work!

Tip #1:
Get Timmy interested in music. This seems to soothe even the savage beast. Drums are a great choice and will allow him to bang out all that surging energy. One extra tip; invest in a good set of earplugs.

Tip #2:
Line a colorful tray with shaving cream and let little Timmy work out some math problems amid the foamy waves. Not only will it clean his hands but it will also enhance his mathematical skills. Next, reach for the abacus. It's a fascinating tool for this too-curious age.

Tip #3:
Introduce little Timmy to nature. Locate some scenic landscapes for starters. One footnote here. Try to find some level terrain without too many pits and canyons. It's not easy catching a runaway child.

Nonetheless, the great outdoors will help little Timmy touch base with his urges of freedom. A nice kite with perhaps a skull's head on it would make a lovely accent to the day. Just stay away from the power lines.

Tip #4:
Share some cooking techniques with little Timmy. He can work out his hyper-mode by helping you whip up that special recipe of chocolate chip cookies that he loves so well. This activity will also allow him to experience what/how/why things work. It will interest him to discover that when all the small ingredients are combined they magically turn into lovely cookies.

Provide plenty of napkins and a pot and pan for him to bang on as the cookies bake. Don't forget to wear your new earplugs. Monster cookie cutters provide a nice accent to your cooking debut with little Timmy.

Tip #5:
Take little Timmy on a trip with you to the market. He'll be more than happy to push your cart. Just watch out for the older folks and pregnant women. It's difficult to move fast unless you're motivated like little Timmy. This adventure will teach your five-year old the value of money because if you don't have money then you don't eat.

I sincerely hope that this advice has been helpful to you and your little Timmy. In those trying times amid your teeth grinding please try to remember, he's just like you…
