Wedding Centerpieces2 Free Wedding Planners for an Elegant, Inexpensive Wedding Free Wedding Planner #1 | Free Wedding Planner #2 If your Wedding expenses are limited - or if you'd rather save the cash for your Honeymoon, try experimenting with some of these Wedding centerpieces... Your Wedding Day will spin memories that will last forever, just as the love you share between one another. Money generally cures most ills, and when you're trying to plan an event as important as a Wedding, the lack of it can inhibit what you want to achieve. On the other hand, some couples prefer to concentrate their funds on the Honeymoon. If this sounds a bit like you and your groom (or bride), consider implementing a few of the ideals below to create a beautiful romantic setting at your Wedding Reception. Most of the ideas are nature in the making! They all involve a very important piece of your Reception layout - the centerpiece. Your Wedding Cake will take precedence, but a centerpiece can add charm and beauty to your layout, and can help balance the cake and the punchbowl. Styrofoam - Create a breathtaking illusion with Styrofoam. It's easy to work with, very flexible for designing purposes, you can make your centerpiece any size you wish, and Styrofoam is very economical - sometimes free! Make sure that your Styrofoam is sturdy, so that it will hold up well under a bit of pressure. Begin by anchoring your centerpiece. This can be accomplished in several ways; one example is to tape a heavy, flat candle holder around the Styrofoam. You don't want your creation leaning or falling over, so stabilizing it is a must. Golden Sticks - Sticks for decorations? A vase of long fragile sticks that have been sprayed with gold paint and dusted with glitter can be quite magnificent! If you don't like gold, go with any color you like. Tip: Place matching clothespins on the sticks and dress the tree with a few one-dollar bills. Your guests will catch on very quickly! Wheat Fans - If are fortunate to live in a farming area, and wheat is in growing season, you can create a beautiful Wedding centerpiece by simply filling a pretty vase with the wheat. If you spy a field of wheat growing, stop and ask the farmer if you have a few of the fatter stalks for your Wedding. Odds are, you'll make his day! Cotton - At Christmastime, many people use a cotton base to set up a nativity scene. The cotton can be puffed for height, or flattened if you don't desire a depth. Place anything you desire onto the cotton that will match your Wedding theme. More Wedding Centerpiece Ideas Before designing your centerpiece, think a bit about your Wedding theme and your Wedding colors. Visit your local craft's store and feast on ideas. Netting is ultra cheap and acts as a great filler for your centerpiece. Silk flowers, miniature wedding knick-knacks, tiny birds such as doves, pearls, glitter - all of these materials are fantastic centerpiece materials. These are also items that you can slowly purchase, spreading the cost out over time. Get even closer to nature by collecting pine boughs, pine cones, beautiful berries, beach shells - the possibilities are endless! Fresh Flowers - Fresh flowers can be very expensive. However, don't rule these fragile beauties entirely out! When we think of 'Wedding', we automatically think 'elaborate' rather than 'elegant'. So, let's talk elegant. What is elegant? Simple. Simple is about as elegant as one can get. How do you achieve an elegant centerpiece that's simple? Locate the largest clear vase you can find. Fill it to the top with water. Buy 2-3 long stemmed flowers - such as Gladiolus and allow them to jut out of the vase. If you'd like to add a bit of color, then do by simply adding a couple of drops of food coloring to the water. You can also drop a few glass chips into the vase to cover the bottom. Wildflowers - Wildflowers aren't only out and about during Springtime! Generally, they can be found any time of the year in most areas. You'll have to gather the flowers on the day of the Wedding, but their beauty is well worth your trouble. Station several vases of wildflowers on your Reception table and throughout the area for eye-catching beauty. Ice Sculpture - Consider making an miniature ice sculpture if you're artistically talented. You'll need a mold and a lot of patience for this one, though. You'll also have to unveil it very quickly at the reception, especially if your Wedding is scheduled during the warmer times of the year. TABLE DECORATIONS: Flat sheets, specifically white ones, work very well as elegant, yet inexpensive tablecloths. Purchase some $1.00 glass candle globes at either the dollar store or your ‘super mart’ and place pastel, scented candles in them that parallel with your wedding colors. Another idea is to use netting that matches your wedding colors and it is very inexpensive, yet elegant. A pretty effect is to place the netting on a long table, allowing for a three foot overhand. Gather the netting in the center and wrap with ribbon stud it out with a cluster of silk or real flowers for an outstanding display. Check local contractor retailers that carry wallpaper. Generally, there’s a discontinued display packed with goodies just waiting to line your wedding table. You can also find pretty foils to dynamic embossed designs. White plastic drop cloths are another great idea for table covers. They can be decorated to match a specific wedding theme and are easy to dispose of after the wedding. Check the thrift stores for unique tablecloths and other covers. You may even find a great candleholder that will ‘set off’ your Reception table while you’re looking. These are all items that you can purchase in advance, too! And that's a great thing to remember when planning your wedding. If you are on a shoestring budget, buy a little each week until your Wedding Day arrives. PLATTERS, PUNCHBOWL, SILVERWARE, SERVERS Scrounge out your kitchen or your parent's kitchen for any serving item that can be used at your wedding. Tying them in sprigs of ribbons then inserting miniature silk flowers can beautify ordinary serving pieces. One of the most gorgeous punchbowl displays I have seen was a simple glass punchbowl that had been placed on top of an ‘upside-down’ ruby-red bowl. Between the red bowl and the punchbowl, someone had anchored a candle ring crated of roses and baby’s breath (no candle of course). It was a definite ‘gasp’ item of the wedding ball! Thrift stores usually have a plethora of punchbowls for very little money. If you don’t need the cups, consider finding a beautiful crystal bowl for your wedding punch.
