How to Plan a Ghoulishly Good Halloween Party!

CAPTURING THE MADNESS OF HALLOWEEN

Don’t forget to load up on film or disposable cameras.  You’ll want to capture the madness so you can enjoy it throughout the year!  What a great way to remember your annoying friend Ethel who came dressed as a witch - and never looked so good!

GAMES

Games can be as important as you’d like them to be at your party.  You may choose to have no games, one game or an entire night of games.  It’s entirely up to you.

Children tend to like to play games.  Most adults need a bit more amusement added to the game for it to be entertaining.

The first two games included below are for teens or adults; the rest are for children.  Have a few door prizes to liven the party.  Funny, out-of-the-ordinary prizes work best – such as chattering teeth.  No, you can’t use Grandpa’s.

King Tut

Ask one of your guests to come to the party dressed as King Tut.  Or, you can have a costume at the party and volunteer a guest to play the part of Tut.

Have Tut sit in a chair that is separated from the rest of your guests.  He should be kingly as if on a throne.

Choose three willing (or unwilling can be more fun) victims and take them to a secluded area. Blindfold your first victim and lead him/her to Tut.  Once there, you will chant:

"This is the old and wise King Tut,

Kiss his ring if you got the gut."

Of course, you can create your own chant.  The victim will kiss a ring that has been placed on one of Tut’s fingers.  There will be another ring on a toe on one of Tut’s feet.

After the victim has kissed Tut’s ringed hand, remove the blindfold and have Tut stick his foot up into the air a bit, as if it has just been kissed.

The look on the face of the victim is worth two Kodak Moments.

Pin the Mother-In-Law’s Head on the Monster

Purchase a life-size paper monster, skeleton, Frankenstein, wolf, witch, etc., at the store.  Remove the head.  Find a copier and a photo of your mother-in-law.  Enlarge the head of your mother-in-law, or some other character that your guests would enjoy roasting.

Blindfold a participant, give them the head that has a small tack attached, then give them a spin and let them try to pin the head on the body of your choice.

Ghost Bingo

Ghost Bingo is becoming a very popular Halloween game among the smaller crowd.  Purchase some orange or black poster board.  Cut out the bingo cards.  With a crayon, outline the cards and enter numbers.  Use ghost cutouts that you have created with white construction paper to mark the cards.

If your party is for very small children, instead of using numbers use classic Halloween shapes, such as mummies, pumpkins, bats and friendly ghosts.

Bottled Corn

You’ll need a bag of candy corn and a milk bottle, preferably quart-size.  Give each child a few kernels of the candy corn that they can drop into the bottle during their turn.  The child with the most kennels inside the bottle, wins.  For an added flair, decorate the bottle like a ghost, or give it some bat wings!

Bobbing For Apples

It’s traditional, but fun!  Fill a tub with water, add the apples and let the games begin!  Disposable rain ponchos are highly recommended!
